Where do propane vapours collect?

What are the effects of breathing propane on humans or animals?
Propane is non-toxic. It is non-poisonous. But if you were in a room filled with propane, it may displace sufficient amounts of air, and you may become light-headed or unconscious. Extended oxygen shortage may cause asphyxiation.
How is propane stored?

What size of propane tank do i need?
The size of tank you need depends on your propane requirments and geologocal location. If you are using propane for a range or cook top you may only require a 40 gallon. If you are using propane for a fireplace you would require a 80 gallon. On the other hand if you have muliple appliances and/or are using propane to run a generator, you will need a larger tank 500 gallon to 1000 gallon. What is a regulator and pigtail? How often should they be replaced
A regulator is a major part of your propane system, it controls the flow of propane vapour and lowers the pressure from the tank to the appliance. Different propane systems run on different set pressures and for different stages of the propane system. The manufacureres specifications of each regulator change the life expectancy, and the weather can play a role in the life span of a regulator causing corresion and the break down of parts. The regulator should be installed to correct codes and standards and should be install by a qualified technican. It is recommended that the regulator be changed every 10 years.
A pigtail is the hose or pipe that connects the tank to the regulator. On different propane systems the pigtail can be copper or rubber, both are susceptible to weather and should be replaced every 10 years.
Is propane a solvent?
Propane may dissolve natural rubber products and may affect some petroleum products. That is why all hoses, fittings and material must be designed, manufactured and be approved for specific use with propane, in accordance with all safety requirements and laws.
Why do cylinders require re-certification and inspection?
Each time your propane cylinder and tank is refilled , a visual inspection is conducted. The cylinder date, evidence of damage or lack of maintenance may obligate the propane delivery driver to decline the refill and advise why. Every 10 years, the service relief valve on your propane cylinder must be replace and the cylinder be re-inspected, in accordance to safety regulations. The service relief valve is a safety valve in the uncommon event that the cylinder pressure is too great it will release pressure.
