Knowledge & Safety

Propane is colourless, odourless and non-toxic. An odorant (a scent similar to rotten eggs or boiling cabbage) is added to propane for leak detection. Propane is stored as a liquid with a boiling tempurature of -42ºC, at which point it vaporizes from propane liquid to propane vapour. Propane is heavier than air, so when checking for leaks be aware that it gathers in low-lying areas.

An economical and environmentally friendly fuel, propane is used to heat your home and business, cook your meals, dry your clothes, and heat your water pools and spas. In a properly maintained and operated system, propane is safe but like any other fuel it must be handled with care. Annual maintenance and servicing of your propane appliances and equipment will not only maintain the safety of the appliance but also the efficiency.
