Storage and Handling of Propane Tanks & Cylinders

Propane Tanks and Cylinders should always be stored in an upright position in a well-ventimated area. Never store propane in your home, your car, or your garage. When filling a propane tank or cylinder, it should be filled by a qualified technician to no more than 80 percent capacity. Eagle Propane Sales' delivery drivers regularly update their training and certifiecations.

Cylinder Re-certification & Inspection

In Canada, propane cylinders are required to be visually inspected before re-filling and must be re-certified every ten years. When a cylinder comes due for its recertification it is no long eligable to be filled and needs to be recertified by a qualified service technican. When a cylinder passes its re-certification the service relief valve is replaced and the cylinder is stamped and good for another ten years.

Winter or Summer Cottages

Once a year you should have your propane system inspected and tested for leaks and regular maintenance should be performed on propane appliances. Modifications, installations, repairs, and maintanence should be performed by a qualified service technican that is familiar with propane. Inspect chimneys, flue pipes and vents for damage, debris, and blockage as animals may build a home in them over the time you are away. Before leaving your cottage, turn off the supply valve of the tank to ensure that you are leaving the system off and safe.
